How do I join Shop.org?

How do I qualify for retail/associate membership? 

Retail membership in Shop.org is open to any retailer: store-based, Internet-based, catalog-based or manufacturers direct who sells goods online to consumers. Shop.org membership is company-based and extends to all employees within your organization. Non-Retail (Associate) membership in Shop.org is available to those companies whose products and services help retailers improve their online and offline capabilities, including: technology and other business solutions providers; consultants and industry advisors; industry analysts; investors; and media companies.
 
How do I qualify for the retail entrepreneur membership?
If you have an operational ecommerce website with revenues under $2M/year, and you have been in business for less than 3 years, you may qualify for a retail entrepreneur membership. My company is a non-profit organization; can we become members?

Shop.org offers membership to 501 (c) 3 organizations that use ecommerce to raise money to fund charitable programs. To find out more about becoming a Shop.org member, contact membership@shop.org, or call the Membership Department at

What is the cost of membership at Shop.org?
Retail member dues are based on annual online consumer retail sales as reported in the most recent fiscal year:

I have just applied for membership. How quickly will my membership be processed?
It generally takes four business days to process payments and activate membership. Once your membership has been activated you will be notified by email and can begin to take advantage of all the benefits of membership.
 
I am a service provider; can I attend the regional dinners? 
To allow for networking and a sales-free environment, the regional dinners are reserved for retail members of Shop.org only. Service providers are not eligible to attend, unless they are sponsoring the event.
 
I am a service provider, can I attend the workshops?
The Shop.org Online Merchandising Workshop is designed to be intimate, retailer-only event. The workshop is limited to about 225 retail members. Service providers who buy a booth space, and/or sponsor a presentation are welcome to attend the conference and expo hall.
 
Can I renew my membership on the website?
We will soon make this feature available. In the meantime, please contact membership@shop.org, or call the Membership Department at  (202) 626-8164.     
 
How can I subscribe to the Shop.org SmartBrief newsletter?
You may sign up to receive the Shop.org SmartBrief five days a week, at no charge.

What do I do if I have problems registering for events? 
If you have problems when registering for a Shop.org event, please contact the registration manager, Susan Cuevas, via email at cuevass@nrf.com or phone (202) 626-8161.
 
When do I receive my confirmation for my event?

You should receive an email confirming your registration within a few hours. If you do not receive an email, feel free to contact Susan Cuevas, Registration Manager at cuevass@nrf.com.
 
Can I get a list of attendees for the conferences?
Out of respect for the privacy of all who come to our events, we do not release attendee lists to our events.
 
How do I access hotel information for my event?
There is a link on each of the event websites that gives information about the hotel. We offer discounted rates through the event website, so please use that as your method of making a hotel reservation.
 
How early can I register for an event?

 We try to open registration via our website a few months before the event. Shop.org retail members are eligible for one free pass per company.  These passes need to be claimed during the early registration period.  Additional passes for retail members are generally in the $500 to $800 range depending on when they are purchased.  Retail non-member prices are in the $1,400 to $1,700 range.  For solution providers, the prices for members are in the $1,300 to $1,900 range and non-member pricing is between $2,000 and $2,700.  Only retailers and sponsors are eligible to attend Shop.org workshops.
 
Whom do I speak to about cancelling a registration for an event?

Is there a deadline to claim my free pass?

There is a deadline for claiming your free pass, and it is noted on the website for each event. Our suggestion is that you claim your free pass as soon as you know you want to attend the event.
 
Are associate members qualified for free passes? 
Retailers receive free passes, but we do not make free passes available to associate members.
 
The registration website does not list my company as a member, whom do I speak with?

Speaker handouts?
We post presentations from past events approximately two weeks after and event ends.  The number of presentations we can provide access to depends on whether or not the speaker permits us to make their presentations available.  We usually post about half of the presentations at any given event.  Members have access to archived presentations.

If you are not a Shop.org member, this page has information about how to purchase the report.  The Web site includes SORO reports dating back to 2002.

We keep our SORO page up-to-date with information about new reports being released. The best place to get that information any time is http://www.shop.org/web/guest/SORO.

CyberMonday:

What is CyberMonday?
Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving, which is seen by many retailers, consumers and the media as the official kick-off to the online holiday shopping season. Shop.org coined the term Cyber Monday in 2005 based on research indicating that there is a spike in online sales activity the Monday after Thanksgiving.

If this is your first visit to the Shop.org message boards, we suggest you review the categories first to see if a category you are interested in already exists. If you would like to create a new category, you may do so by clicking on the “add category” button.
You can start a new thread in a category or add a post to an existing thread.

You may click on the unsubscribe link within the email and you will be taken off the email list.

Is the Shop.org job board available to members only?
The Shop.org job board is readable by members and nonmembers alike. However, only members may post jobs on this job board, and they may do so at no charge.
 
I’m a member of Shop.org and I want to post a job listing. How do I do it?

Go to the job board (http://www.shop.org/web/users/jobboard), select the appropriate category, and post a thread. In the posting, be sure to include a description of the job, the position title, the city where the candidate would be working, and an email address and/or phone number for the person the interested candidate should contact.
