THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE 2007 ANNUAL SUMMIT A SUCCESS! Shop.org's 2007 Annual Summit drew a record breaking audience and attracted a diverse crowd of eCommerce and Multichannel professionals. Each morning started with two inspiring keynote addresses, and during both afternoons the attendees were able to choose from a wide variety of concurrent sessions that provided valuable content in the ever changing world of online retail. Kelly Mooney kicked off the Annual Summit with her keynote address that explored the rise of personal brands and how we can use them to remain culturally relevant and build better relationships with the consumer. Kelly discussed the open brand's new strategic imperative, which is, not surprisingly, to be O.P.E.N.: on-demand, personal, engaging, and networked. Kelly was followed by University of California Riverside Professor Donna Hoffman who identified the online business strategies that are currently the most effective and predict what lies ahead in the future for the consumer. The afternoon was filled with breakout sessions on Web 2.0, Merchandising for Conversion, Search, and Analytics and featured for the first time “Intermediate” and “Advanced” level panels on each topic. The conversation continued with a series for themed roundtables discussions that directly corresponded with the topics of the breakout sessions. Day 2 began with Forrester Research Senior Analyst Sucharita Mulpuru's follow up to her Marketing Workshop keynote, which discussed in detail the results from Part 2 of the 2007 SORO Report and provided specific action items on how retailers can use this information. Finally, Shop.org welcomed columnist, NPR commentator, and author David Weinberger who explained his theory that everything on the Internet is becoming “miscellaneous”, which is a trend that is great for businesses if they learn how to embrace it. In the afternoon Shop.org featured12 intensive clinics that provided practical and tactical tips on such topics as Mobile Marketing, Email Best Practices, Alternate Payment Options, Consumer-Generated Content, and Multi-Channel Promotions just to name a few. These clinics are designed to be more detailed then the breakout sessions on Day 1, and by offering such a wide variety of topics we hoped to offer valuable content for as many of our attendees as possible.
