
Event Presentations
Leading online and multichannel retailers and industry experts kicked off the new year in Atlanta at Shop.org FirstLook 2006. FirstLook brings together retail leaders to discuss lessons learned from the holiday season and to plan for the coming year. The event included an opening reception and two full days of sessions, which featured keynote presentations by Home Depot Direct and Google, a networking reception and dinner at the new Georgia Aquarium, and a day dedicated to customer experience topics organized in partnership with Creative Good.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Harvey Seegers, President of Home Depot Direct, delivered an exciting presentation on how the Internet has impacted the world's largest home improvement retailer.
- A panel of analysts and retailers including comScore Networks, JupiterResearch, Nielsen//NetRatings, Amazon.com, J. Jill, and QVC provided their insights on the 2005 online shopping season in the "eHoliday Recap" session.
- Overstock.com, Travelocity, and CVS.com presented the "3 Big Strategies for 2006" as selected by Shop.org retail members. Topics included Landing Page Optimization, Customer Loyalty and Retention, and Reorganizing for Scaleability.
- Phil Terry, CEO of Creative Good, presented a keynote on customer experience issues that are at the forefront of the industry today. He also moderated a customer experience practitioners' panel featuring Circuit City, BBC News Interactive, and Bank of America and with the help of his staff, conducted three live usability labs.
- Attendees marveled at whale sharks, Beluga whales and sea dragons at the private party at the Georgia Aquarium, which scored as one of our highest-rated evening networking events ever.
- Jen Fitzpatrick, Engineering Director of Google, delivered a keynote on the simple improvements Google has made to create the best user experience possible on its site.
