THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE 2007 ONLINE MARKETING WORKSHOP A SUCCESS!

Event Presentations

Attendees at our Shop.org Online Marketing Workshop were blown away with both keynote presentations. Mitch Joel started Day 1 with examples of how Web 2.0 features are entering the ongoing “conversation” retailers have with their customers. Day 2 started strong with Sucharita Mulpuru's overview of the State of Retailing Online preliminary results and challenge to the audience to employ the right metrics when assessing the efficacy of online marketing campaigns. Our roundtable sessions were a great success, providing retailers with the opportunity to network and learn from on another. Day 2 afternoon clinics—a first for our Online Marketing Workshop—gave attendees the opportunity to tap into the collective wisdom of some of the most widely recognized eCommerce executives in the business. As always, the Workshop was a great blend of learning and networking in a fun, relaxed environment.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

• Larry Joseloff from Shop.org moderated a panel with top performing affiliates and discussed communication strategies, search marketing efforts, affiliate analytics, communicating the value of affiliate programs throughout organizations, and the future of affiliate marketing. These discussions continued in earnest during roundtable discussions later in the afternoon.

• Ethan Holland from Jewelry Television and Peter Cobb from eBags directed one of our two Marketing Clinics on Friday afternoon concerning measuring the results of Web 2.0 Technologies. Ethan and Peter gave a brief overview of what makes up Web 2.0 technologies, and discussed in detail how they measure the results and build a bridge between “cool new feature” and “significant revenue generating channel”.

• In the other Marketing clinic, Steve Kahn from DSW and Matt Corey from Golfsmith discussed a number of best practices in how to create effective email and measure the results. They also provided specific examples on how the analytics from previous emails can be used to fine tune email efforts to make emails more effective in generating sales.
