
Event Presentations
Shop.org's “big tent event” expanded even more this year for a record-setting 2000+ attendees. Nestled in the heart of New York, this three-day event packed in a lot of great, actionable information for attendees from every part of the e-commerce industry. Two day-long boot camps started things off with intense looks at core concepts in online marketing and merchandising and the technological challenge and promise of Web 2.0. Inspiring keynotes from Kelly Mooney, Greg Maffei, Barry Schwartz and Phil Terry set the tone; and outstanding breakout sessions provided ample opportunities for learning, whether your interest was acquisition and retention, operations and infrastructure, or strategy and management, or other key topics in the world of selling, marketing, and merchandising online. The best in the business were there to learn, to teach, and to network—following through on Shop.org's promise of by the members, for the members.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
• Kelly Mooney, President and CXO of Resource Interactive, got things off to a blazing start with her keynote on the Digital Millennials—the Gen Y consumers who are coming into their own and changing the way shoppers relate to retail.
• Author Barry Schwartz and Phil Terry, CEO of Creative Good, discussed Barry's book “The Paradox of Choice,” and the important lessons it contains for e-retailers.
• Greg Maffei, President and CEO of Liberty Media, shared his insights on how—as head of a powerhouse media company— he sees the web and e-commerce growing and changing to meet the needs of today's consumers.
• Fantastic and plentiful breakout sessions piqued the interest of attendees from all parts of the e-commerce business. Standouts included Doug Mack of Scene 7 along with his e-commerce 3.0 panel, and it was SRO for Travelocity's Jeff Glueck and his take on the ROI of search.
• Networking, networking, networking! Our 2000+ attendees had ample opportunities for conversation and knowledge transfer via roundtables, cocktail receptions and other fun breaks.
• An elegant dinner at Capitale provided an impressive touch of old New York as a backdrop for greeting old friends and making new ones.
