The 2008 Annual Summit brought together the largest audience of eCommerce and Multichannel professionals in Shop.org history.  The audience was treated to inspiring keynote addresses each morning, a choice of “Strategy” and “Tactical” sessions to kick off each afternoon, themed roundtable discussions, and each day closed with industry experts giving their honest opinions on specific web site features with our brand new “Critics Corner” sessions.  Our attendees could also have their web sites individually critiqued by industry experts with our “Doctors Is In” sessions along with taking an EXPO Hall tour to learn more about how specific solution providers can help their retail operations succeed.

Event Highlights Included:

  • Larger Exhibit Hall that featured new detailed EXPO Hall tours and interactive digital signage.
  • Festive evening event at LAX that featured a packed dance floor along with more quiet rooms to promote networking.
  • George Jones CEO of Borders and Toby Lenk President of Direct from the Gap each gave keynote presentations that talked about how they have used technological innovations to improve the customer experience along with cross channel success.
  • Sucharita Mulpuru presented her “new rules of online retail” that not only discussed the data behind these ideas, but what these results mean for retailers as they plan for the future.
  • Alan Dick from Vintage Tub and Bath moderated a unique afternoon sessions that presented over 24 specific tactics retailers can do to make money next week.  This session featured eight speakers each giving their unique tips from their areas of expertise including customer reviews, search, email, and promotions. 
  • Doug Mack from Adobe and consultant Sally McKenzie looked at numerous specific web site merchandising features and gave their honest opinions of the effectiveness and relevancy of how the sites were designed.
  • Web 2.0 expert Mitch Joel presented retailers with specific steps to get started with Social Media and how specific social media tools can help aspects of their retail operations.
  • Shop.org Board Member Brett Hurt and Golfsmith VP Matt Corey looked at cross channel strategy and applications in their critics corner titled “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.”  Brett and Matt presented free Nike Driver Golf Clubs to three best examples presented by the audience for them to critique.
